Be LED by IST (UK)
Converters looking for a compact and efficient drying system for their rotary and flexo presses should talk to IST (UK) about the new LEDCure SCR technology for labels.
LED is gaining momentum as printers look to find a lower energy and more sustainable drying system which can still provide them with excellent quality and performance results.
This system (which includes the LEDCure cartridge, chiller, control system and power supply rack) can be equipped on new presses or quickly, easily and cost-effectively retrofitted to existing presses in the field. A retrofit takes one to two days and comes with a 12 month warranty.
The technology has been developed by joint research teams from IST METZ and its subsidiary ITL. LEDCure is a sister system to the proven LAMPcure for conventional UV and allows printers and converters to take advantage of LED low energy technology. Barriers to LED have come down with the arrival of low migration inks and the constant evolution of new pigments and ink formulae.
The XT8 Booster enables the system to reach an extremely high output and dose which greatly increases cure speeds. LEDCure is an on and off system so there is no warm up time. It can be tailored to different presses and can cure between 90 and 540mm in 30mm increments so only the energy needed for a job is used.
The LEDCure Cartridge is easily accessed, making maintenance and servicing very easy. Furthermore, IST has introduced XChange which means that the curing unit can be swapped over, minimising downtime during servicing.
This system and other drying technology will be on show at the IST METZ UV Days which take place in the group HQ in Nütringen, Germany, from 13-16 May 2019.
