DataLase named Innovator of the Year 2016

DataLase, one of the market leaders in inline digital printing, has been named Innovator of the Year 2016 at The Stationers’ Company Innovation Excellence Awards at Stationers’ Hall, London.

DataLase has been praised for its inline digital printing solutions that deliver new market standards to improve productivity and provide consistency and repeatability.

Mark Naples, VP business development Europe and APAC, said: “We are immensely proud of our achievement. This award highlights the industry acknowledgement of DataLase inline digital printing solutions that will revolutionise the way products and packaging are printed.”

The Stationers’ Company has a heritage dating back to 1557 when it was incorporated under Royal Charter, and it has played a prominent role in shaping the industry ever since. The Innovation Excellence Awards are held to highlight companies in the Communications and Content Industries that are successfully exploiting the opportunities presented in the Digital Media Landscape. It also recognises the key role which innovation plays in survival at a time of immense change.

49 companies from the paper, ink, printing, publishing, advertising, marketing, copyright licensing and packaging sectors entered the awards – a significant increase in submissions from 2015.

Upon receiving the award, DataLase received the following praise: “The judges were impressed by what they saw as a radical departure from current practice in the packaging industry that has the capability to be a major game changer. Examples of disruptive technologies are rare and DataLase has demonstrated that it is possible to print detailed packaging labels accurately, at ultra-high speeds, at low cost and without the use of conventional inks.

“The combination of digital, chemical and laser technologies opens up a wide variety of opportunities not only in the packaging sector but also across all aspects of the printing world where personalisation is required to be brought closer to the final consumer.”

The DataLase solution enables high-speed, fast turnaround printing, which is ideal for late-stage customisation and real time marketing on product or pack, maximising relevance to the consumer and delivering highest value to the brand owner.

The Stationers’ Company award win further builds on the success DataLase experienced earlier this year, when the company won the gold award in the outstanding technical innovation category at the European Flexographic Industry Association (EFIA) annual print awards.
