It is only day two of drupa, the world’s largest converting and print media exhibition, but there is so much to see and already the halls are buzzing. After a slow start on day one, many exhibitors are receiving more visitors to their stands today and are hoping this continues throughout the show.

Editor’s comment:

It’s been a very busy morning at Messe Düsseldorf, which has involved a lot of walking! We’re at drupa this week to see what’s new in the converting world. Across all 17 halls here at the venue there has already been a number of key product launches, and other solutions are being demonstrated in all corners of the event. There is a hive of activity among every stand and the aisles are a sea of people!

So far today we’ve witnessed demonstrations of the Titan SR800 on the Atlas Converting stand, the X6 slitter rewinder from Universal Converting Equipment, the array of UV and LED curing solutions from GEW and we were shown the various finishing and inspection systems offered by Valco Melton.

In today’s age, speed and efficiency are essential. The Titan SR800 from Atlas Converting Equipment has automated roll alignment to help the operator line up new rolls exactly where they need to be before material is would up. Arms are positioned ready for this, and then move outwards to allow for roll unloading. There are twice daily demonstrations at the Atlas stand, Hall 12 Stand D55.

On the GEW stand (Hall 12 Stand A28), the company’s range of UV and LED curing solutions are on display, including its NUVA2 UV system for super-wide applications available in widths up to 2.5m from a single lamp. The NUVA2 is a fully aircooled UV system for web or sheet-fed applications in the printing, coating and converting industries. An example of the RHINO ArcLED electronic power supply is also being shown.

Tomorrow – day 3 of 11 – brings another day of drupa news, with many conferences and product launches taking place. On the Converter website and Twitter you can stay up to date on all the latest from the event!
