Bischof and Klein expand with a focus on consumer packaging

Bischof and Klein UK is expanding with focus on consumer packaging. In recent years, the company (with an annual turnover of approx. £22 million), has invested a total of over five million pounds in modernising a plant in Telford, increasing the extrusion and print capacities. The number of employees has risen by 10 per cent.

The B+K Group British subsidiary in Shropshire started 35 years ago with the manufacture of industrial, flexible plastic packaging. Today, the company is focused on manufacturing high-quality packaging films for consumer goods. Amongst other sectors B+K UK produces flexible plastic packaging for the food, pet food and hygiene industries. The plant is equipped with four state of the art flexographic printing presses, printing up to ten colours.

B+K UK was the first foreign subsidiary for the German packaging specialist Bischof and Klein, which was founded 125 years ago. The B+K Group is one of Europe’s leading full-service suppliers of industrial and consumer packaging as well as technical films.

“Bischof and Klein enjoys an outstanding reputation in the UK”, says Günter Eickholt, managing director of B+K UK. “Customers value the outstanding print quality, the reliable high quality film performance and the comprehensive service. Of course, we also benefit from the B+K Group know-how and back-up.”

One of B+K UK advantages is its employees. Eickholt says: “There is a special team spirit here. This helps us keep skilled, experienced people in the company.”

The company provides in-house training for its junior staff and offers apprenticeships for the development of young people. In collaboration with various learning institutions, the company trains industrial mechanics, process engineers, printers and future managers in accordance with the model set by its German parent company.
