Nick Smith of Sun Chemical undertook his first duty as president of the British Coatings Federation (BCF) at a meeting of the Board in September.  He has started a two-year term and is the first president of the Federation from the printing inks industry since 1998.

Nick first joined Sun Chemical as a graduate in 1999 and went in to the publications sales team as a sales and key account manager; he has since spent the past 14 years progressing within the company covering various functions and divisions including taking up several central business and project roles with the UK, Ireland and Nordic business units. Prior to joining Sun Chemical Nick studied at Loughborough University whereby he gained a BSc in Economics.  In 2007 he was awarded an MBA from Cranfield University’s School of Management.  Nick joined the BCF Board in 2010, replacing Charles Murray.

“It is a great honour to have been asked to serve as the president of the Federation,” comments Nick.  “I am really looking forward to working with Tom and his team in Leatherhead on their key objectives over the next two years.
