Royston Labels’ unique label complements new gin release

Royston Labels GinSpecialist label manufacturer, Royston Labels, has produced a series of new labels for Surrey-based award winning gin distillers, Silent Pool, to complement its hand-crafted artisan spirit collections.

One such label was developed for its Admiral Collingwood Navy Strength Gin – a yet to be commercialised product, destined primarily for the Swedish market. The label was designed in celebration of Admiral Collingwood, a larger than life ‘Sea-Lord’ who played a pivotal role at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and who also happens to be related to the Silent Pool master distiller, Cory Mason.

The intricate, complex label design was printed on one of Royston Labels’ combination printing presses using ten colours and the very best quality of UV flexo label printing to achieve the detail the imagery required. Incorporating a high metallised look in different colours, the label features a distinctive and unique embossed textured finish on a synthetic substrate to create the look and feel of parchment paper, in keeping with historical and distinguished style of the design.

Phil Bradnam, Royston Labels’ technical manager, said: “When the day came to produce the label, the whole process ran very smoothly with just a few ‘tweaks’ required here and there. As a result of our ongoing development and continual innovation, we used a new embossed textured finish on a synthetic substrate to really make the label stand-out; it was something we hadn’t attempted before on a self-adhesive label, but it worked well and we are delighted with the result.

“It has been great to work with the team at Silent Pool. This particular journey really has been pleasant and challenging in a good way, and we look forward to new and exciting projects in the future.”

Ian McCulloch, Silent Pool’s co-founder, added: “Royston Labels were able to provide expert support that enabled us to translate an innovative and eye-catching design into a practical label that can be easy applied. The production team ensured that we were able to access the latest print technology and that in turn enabled us to really push the design.

“Royston Labels have been patient, responsive and have beaten all of the [tight] deadlines we gave them, we definitely see this as the start of a longer relationship.”
