Support for Kodak’s Packaging Layout Automation now added to WEBcnx

Arden Software has added full support for Kodak’s Packaging Layout Automation (PLA) feature to WEBcnx. As part of a fully integrated WEBcnx/Kodak Prinergy Powerpack workflow, PLA will help packaging printers to reduce operational costs, improve production efficiencies and reduce time-to-market. WEBcnx is able to harness the full power of PLA which uses Prinergy Rules- Based Automation Software and the advanced imposition engine of Kodak Pandora Step-and- Repeat Software to speed and streamline complex packaging jobs. This helps eliminate the need for thousands of layout templates previously required to manage complex production workflows.

“This is another example of Arden Software’s strategic alliance with Kodak’s Unified Workflow Solutions division working to the benefit of brand owners and packaging manufacturers,” explains Chris Rogers, general manager of Arden Software. “Together we are able to offer customers a complete and seamless workflow solution which begins at the first customer contact through design and on to print production.”

The integration of WEBcnx with PLA exploits the Prinergy Rules-Based Automation Software to enable the streamlined transfer of project information for quick, efficient and fully automated layout creation. Users are able to set up validation rules to reduce common operator errors and automate comparisons of input parameters against ‘known’ manufacturing specifications relating to materials and equipment stored in the database.

“Automating these and other functions frees up operators to focus on higher margin prepress processes such as creative design, dimensional elements and colour retouching,” says Stephen Miller, product manager, production workflow systems, Kodak.

“This helps them deliver more value to their customers through stand out packaging that yields a greater return on marketing investment.”
