Titan ER610 demonstrated at AIMCAL Slitting School

The AIMCAL Web Slitting Technology course was held in North Carolina at the end of September, with machine demonstrations at Atlas Converting’s facility where attendees got to see the Titan ER610 in action.

With a good number of attendees from a wide range of companies, both large and small, the two-day course was designed to expand the knowledge of operators regarding web slitting technologies, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to take back to their workplace and improve their own processes and mange potential problems they are facing now or may face in the future.

The course covered a wide range of topics and techniques including extensive discussion of razor, crush/score and shear slitting technologies, providing “important-to-know” slitting process control information. Important shear slitting geometric dimensions and dynamic operating conditions were covered in detail, as well as six key knife factors and metallurgy options relative to improving slit edge quality and extending knife life.

As well as set-up techniques and best practice attendees also discussed trim removal equipment, set-up requirements and performance concerns.

Led by David Rumson, an independent slitting consultant and industry expert, he commented: “The Atlas slitter demonstration definitely added to the educational program.”
