Ulma Packaging announces new appointment

Ulma Packaging has announced the appointment of Martin Baldwin as thermoformer business manager in the UK and Ireland. He joins a company enjoying growing demand for its range of packaging solutions.

Martin, who has over 25 years’ experience in the food and processing equipment sectors, will be responsible for overseeing the growth in current and new markets for Ulma’s range of thermoforming equipment.

Having experienced the quality of the firm’s technology and exceptional customer service in a previous role, Martin jumped at the chance of joining a cutting-edge business, which can offer stand-alone equipment or complete automated line solutions for businesses large and small. He said, “It was an easy decision having had first-hand experience of working alongside Ulma. I am thrilled to be part of a team that will go the extra mile to meet a customer’s specific requirements.”

Ulma’s managing director UK, Chris Pickles, added, “Martin comes to us with an extensive commercial background in the food industry. His knowledge and experience will contribute to the continuing growth of the business.”

Addressing the continuing popularity of vacuum skin pack presentation, the latest addition to the thermoformer portfolio is the TFS407R. Developed at Ulma Packaging Technology Centre in conjunction with Sealed Air Cryovac, the new machine allows processors to deliver fantastic looking skin packed products whilst benefiting from reduction in film waste and up to 12 per cent improvement in cycle time when compared to the original TFS 407.

Ulma Packaging Technology Centre, located alongside the main manufacturing site in Onati, Spain, is a facility dedicated to creating new opportunities for processors and packers to benefit from the breadth of Ulma’s global experience in packaging techniques. Ulma’s portfolio of thermoforming, traysealing, flow-wrapping, vertical form fill seal and stretch-wrapping machines — coupled with a dedicated Automation division — ensures that every customer benefits from the very latest in packaging and automation technology, suited to their requirements.
