UNI Packaging scoop more awards for Digiflex

Multiple award winning flexible packaging group, UNI Packaging, have continued their momentum into 2018 by collecting a bundle of awards for their digital print offering, Digiflex – the latest being at the inaugural Digital Packaging Trophies (Les Trophées de l’Emballage Numérique) event in Paris, held on 19 January.

Hosted by French label, print and packaging media – MagNum Digital, Etiq&Pack and Pap’Argus, the competition was designed to focus on the very best of digitally printed packaging from 2017.

There were six categories: food, beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, gifting and other. UNI Packaging dominated the food and beverage sectors with three awards:

Stand Up Pouch – Food

 IDS Conditionnement chose Digiflex to develop its multiple reference superfood range. The ability to print multiple designs without origination costs enabled the brand to release all 14 of their products cost effectively. In addition, the regularity of design change to reflect amendments in ingredient labelling – complying with ‘Bio et Vegan’ labels guidelines – demonstrating the provenance of each, for traceability. Adding further value to the product, UNI Packaging were also able to apply a spout for consumer convenience.

Shrink Sleeve – Beverage

Digital print converts Beverage Scouts, who use the technology for their labels, enthusiastically embraced UNI Packaging’s PET shrink sleeve capability for their aluminium can range. This particular range is driven by event campaigns, and UNI Packaging’s offering enables a high speed response time whilst offering increased print coverage compared to a label. This has added brand value through a more premium aesthetic. From a technical point of view, the sleeves were also printed using all 7 colours available on the HP Indigo 20000 press.

Film – Beverage

Loyal UNI Packaging customer Lobodis utilised the Digiflex service to launch their new coffee pod range. Once again, cost effectiveness and speed to market were key motivators for the brand, as was the ability to colour match existing gravure printed film that UNI Packaging supplies. UNI Packaging’s digital printers offer a 97% pantone match, using the 7 colour stations. A further benefit was having no minimum order quantity, allowing Lobodis to print exactly what they needed.

After success in the European Prohelio and Flexo Stars awards over the previous 3 years, as well as nominations in the UK Packaging Awards, World Beverage Innovation Awards and Earth Island Solutions Awards, UNI Packaging continue to impress with their technical expertise and striking print quality.
