Be bold with Davis-Standard’s high barrier cast film machinery
As the global market for diverse barrier structures continues to thrive, so do expectations for cast film machinery. Davis-Standard is up to the challenge with a complete portfolio of proven solutions for protective films, food packaging, consumer and medical packaging, personal care and hygienic markets, stretch and cling films, and more.
It all starts with collaborative engineering focused on delivering diverse barrier structures for your business today and in the future. Every component is geared toward process versatility, desired outputs, reduced gels, enhanced melt quality, and minimal waste.
Davis-Standard’s high barrier cast film lines typically include:
- An annealing station engineered for quality films and operational flexibility
- Extruders in multi-layer configurations of seven, nine, eleven, and more layers
- Winders with centre-wind tension control, a stationary knife, no fold-back core start, and straight cut
- Advanced touch-screen controls customized for drives, pressures and gauging; compatible with industry analogue and digital drives
- Upgradeable control and drive architecture with distributed I/0 for easy installation
- Ancillary equipment built to support outputs and flexibility and minimize dusting
Extruders are mounted on a platform above the casting unit and are engineered to support a range of resins, including PA, PE, mPE, PP, PET, EVOH, and tie structures. Processors can attain finished web widths from 2000mm to 3600mm, and line speeds up to 250 meters per minute, web thickness from 75 to 300 microns, and a max roll diameter of 1200mm.
In addition to engineering, Davis-Standard’s team has decades of experience in multi-layer cast film structures and MDO (machine direction orientation), dies and winders, high-efficiency cooling rolls, and the ongoing integration of new technologies. The company’s commitment to R&D efforts, validated at in-house technical centres, makes it possible to give customers the assurance they need and the opportunity for exploration.
An example of new technology is the DS Activ-Check, a customizable, cloud-based platform that leverages the systems and strategies of the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things). This tool harnesses digital transformation to simplify complex process data to increase operator effectiveness; leading to reduced downtime, better product quality, and reinforced operator safety. The configurable platform engine uses analytical tools based on long-term cloud data storage along with process and equipment technology algorithms to help management and production teams identify and improve product quality and line efficiency. The implementation of this technology is expected to grow in 2022.
Davis-Standard is also pleased to offer regional support and aftermarket services. This includes an extensive spare parts inventory, 24/7 customer service, technical expertise, and rebuild and retrofit services worldwide.
