Brenntag Specialties invested into the expansion of its Rubber Excellence Center in Orbassano next to Turin. Besides the laboratory for R&D, which services customers with state-of-the-art performance analysis and testing, further value-added services are completing the broader offer portfolio: Additives can be repacked customized to customer requirements. Thereby safe handling of chemicals and sustainable production processes are ensured.
The region of Turin (Piedmont) is known as location of main sites of high-performance tires. Automotive tire companies are the main customers for the Orbassano site, but technical goods like Industrial Rubber workpieces catch up and are an important and growing niche.
The Brenntag Orbassano site special focus lies on bags-in-bag solutions and on liquid as well as solid repackaging. Meltable bags-in bag allow to pack several components together in accordance with customers recipes without need to change the customers productions process. This reduces complexity, avoids scarp, and prevents chemical reactions between materials.
Liquid Repackaging, especially for sticky liquids and very high viscosity liquids, is a process difficult to manage, which needs to preheat the material in special conditions. The Orbassano site offers dosing for regular and high viscosity liquids, avoiding any waste of material. Brenntag’s production capacity for liquid repackaging has been increased by 25% by investments into additional production lines and new heating rooms. The Orbassano site meets all quality standards, including the internationally accepted IATF 16949 and the ISO 9001 standard.
