HB Fuller sheds light on adhesive safety regulations for food contact

HB Fuller announced today that its product regulatory specialist Alexandra Ross will be addressing the Smithers Pira’s flagship Plastics & Paper in Contact with Foodstuff conference this December; shedding light on the regulatory background to adhesive safety in food packaging.

For more than 125 years, HB Fuller has been delivering innovative adhesive solutions to address industry trends. Its latest focus is leveraging its expertise in the development of food contact safety, a topic which Ross will discuss at this conference in London.  With food safety a priority and adhesives still outside the list of regulated substances, HB Fuller will encourage adhesives manufacturers and users to take a fresh look at how they can evaluate adhesives used in food packaging.

Ross, vice-chair of the technical working group Paper and Packaging has more than 13 years of experience in regulatory affairs. She will examine the role of current legislation, providing understanding and reassurance about how the guidance from the Association of European Adhesives and Sealants Industry (FEICA) helps the adhesive user, as well as the adhesive manufacturer.

“Given that Smithers Pira’s conference is a leading food contact forum, attracting attendance from industry specialists across Europe I am honoured to be invited to present,” says Ross. “I will be providing insights on a step-by-step process used to evaluate adhesives and on which information needs to be provided on ‘Food Contact Status’ paper.”
