IST METZ presents applications for UV technology at its in-house trade fair

The sixth UV DAYS of IST METZ takeS place 17-20 June. This year the international event on the topic of UV technology focuses on multi-functionality and sense perception. Together with renowned partners from the printing industry the UV specialist presents a diverse programme in Nürtingen.

Printing has a future – that will be the clear message of IST METZ. At the biannual event at the company’s headquarter representatives of the international printing industry will meet.  One highlight will be a multifunctional folded box manufactured in UV sheet-fed offset printing that appeals to all the senses by means of highclass coatings and an embossing. During the curing of inks and varnishes especially energy-efficient UV systems of IST METZ are used as interdeck and end-of-press dryers. Thus filigree coating effects can be realised on the folded box.

“At the UV DAYS we will of course show all the possibilities our UV curing systems offer but we also think outside the box and will present opportunities beside printing and finishing that will make print products stand out in the future”, says managing director Dirk Jägers. “The combination with computer-based media and printed electronics creates an added value to the folded box at the point of sale.

The folded box will be printed live on the on-site printing press of IST METZ. There will be further printing demonstrations on the topics of 3D varnishing in UV inkjet, digital label printing and LED UV technology on a flexographic printing press. Matching the slogan Future of Print visitors of the event also awaits a big exhibition of renowned companies from the printing industry, among them printing press manufacturers, ink and coating producers. Recent examples of printed electronics and possibilities for the combination of print products with digital media will also be presented.

“We are providing the approximately 600 expected trade visitors who are coming from all over the world with superb opportunities to experience great products and learn about new processes, not to mention explore new business fields and thus increase the value of services provided to their customers,” says Jägers.

Guided tours held in the IST METZ plants complete the programme. On these tours, visitors will be shown the production of UV lamps and power supply devices, the coating of UV reflectors, as well as the assembly of entire UV units.
