Bradford-based Mailway Packaging Group has expanded its retail display and packaging capabilities with the acquisition of Derbyshire point-of-sale display manufacturer Derwent Displays, securing the future of the business and safeguarding 33 jobs.

The acquisition, completed on 9 July 2026 following the appointment of joint administrators from BTG at Derwent Packaging Limited, sees the Denby-based business continue trading as Mailway Displays from its current East Midlands manufacturing facility.

Ben Fallon and Louise Longley of BTG were appointed joint administrators of Derwent Packaging Limited, which trades as Derwent Displays, on 8 July 2026 after the company experienced cash flow pressures. An accelerated sales process was launched prior to the administration to seek investment or a sale of the business.

Derwent Displays 2Founded in 1994, Derwent Displays designs and manufactures temporary point-of-sale displays, bespoke retail packaging and fulfilment solutions for brands, marketing agencies and print management companies across the UK. The business manages the full production process in-house, from design and manufacture through to fulfilment.

Mailway Packaging Group provides retail packaging services for customers across a range of sectors and the acquisition strengthens its offering in the retail display market.

Ben Fallon, joint administrator and director at BTG, said: “We are really pleased to have secured this sale, protecting the jobs of the entire team, delivering value for creditors and enabling this long-established Derbyshire manufacturer to continue trading under new ownership.

“The business has developed an excellent reputation within the retail display and packaging sector over more than 30 years, ensuring the future of a highly skilled manufacturing operation and an important supplier to customers across the UK.”

Derwent Displays 3Louise Longley, joint administrator and BTG partner, added: “This is an excellent outcome following an accelerated sales process, ensuring the business can continue operating from its Denby site with its experienced workforce in place.

“We would like to thank the employees, customers, suppliers and professional advisers for their support throughout, enabling a smooth transition to the new owners and providing a strong platform for the business’s future.”

Gateley Legal advised the joint administrators, with Hill Dickinson acting for the purchaser.  BTG, formerly Begbies Traynor, is a UK-wide financial advisory and restructuring group, providing insolvency, corporate finance and real estate advisory services.
