Morancé Soudure France and Comexi strengthen their relationship with a new acquisition

The short setup time of the Comexi F2 MC 10-color flexographic press will allow the French company to reduce costs by changing multiple SKUs

Morancé Soudure France, which specialises in the production of plastic oxo-biodegradable packaging has purchased an F2 MC 10-color flexo press from Comexi, a specialist in solutions for the printing industry and the conversion of flexible packaging. This is the second Comexi machine bought by Morancé Soudure France, following its acquisition of a Comexi S1 DT slitter in 2020.

“We have decided to invest in a Comexi F2 MC 10-color press for various reasons,” explained Morancé Soudure France CEO Olivier Fedel. “First, to renew our fleet of flexographic machines. We had two old machines from another company; the Comexi F2 MC 10-color will largely replace the production of both these machines. Second, we were looking for a flexo machine with extremely short set-up times, in order to reduce our costs due to the ability to change multiple SKUs. Furthermore, the re-print system is a huge asset, and this will be our first 10-color flexographic press.”

The French company, established in 1975 making freezer bags in a garage, was created by Jean Pierre Barbier, president of Morancé Soudure France. For over 30 years, it has primarily exported products to North and West Africa. Presently, the company has over 80 employees at its production plant located in Villefranche sur Saône (Rhône). With the new Comexi F2 MC 10, Morancé Soudure France will print flexible packaging for foods, pet foods, frozen foods, garden centres, and nuclear products.

The Comexi F2 MC press has been designed to provide solutions to the demanding challenges of the flexible packaging market. The robust design along with state-of-the-art electronics minimises impacts and vibrations, and allows converters to achieve excessive speeds without bouncing. The new drying system reduces the required energy, while ensuring a perfect drying of the substrate. Inking and doctoring, which are considered the core of flexographic printing presses, have been optimised through three different patents regarding the design of the inking system and doctor blades. The collaboration with top suppliers of video and inspection systems creates a complete automatic pressure and register set up system with minimum waste.

The purchase of the Comexi F2 MC 10-color follows the installation of a the state-of-the-art Comexi S1 DT slitter, which the French company bought in 2020. “We are extremely satisfied with our slitter. It has enabled us to optimise the productivity of our flexographic projects, as we no longer use the process of inline die-cutting with our printing machines,” said Mr Fedel.
