Nordenia opens second plant in North America

By opening its new Hubble Creek plant Nordenia USA has nearly doubled its floor space. The high quality films and packaging specialist designed the 17,000 square meter building to function as a center of Competence for pre-made packaging. At the beginning of the year the plant had installed a Totani bag-making machine; new production lines and printing presses will follow.

The investment including the new machine totals € 3.5 million. In the medium term, the expansion is expected to create more than 50 new positions. Nordenia USA Jackson now operates two plants in North America, both of which are located in Missouri.

“By building the plant we are creating the vital basis for future growth,” says managing director Reinhold Franke. “At the same time we will be centralising premade packaging which is an important branch of the business.”

“The expansion of our American site is a central element of our Group strategy,” comments Ralph Landwehr, chairman of the executive board and CEO of Nordenia International. “The new North

American plant will enable us to increase our flexibility with regard to our customers and strengthen our competitive position. Strategically, Nordenia is focusing on the markets in North America, Asia, Germany and Eastern Europe.”

The site generates about 45% of the company’s sales with products for the hygiene end market and 25% in each case with products for the food and the pet care and garden products end markets.

The most important productsare elastic diaper components for which the Nordenia Group is global market leader, FlexZiBox, bags with four sealed edges, NorDiBag flexible packaging and stand-up pouches.
