Leeds-based Zebra Print Group is celebrating 20 years in business, marking two decades since the family-run print company was founded on 11th September 2006.

What began at a kitchen table at founder David Storr’s home in Aberford has grown into a £3 million-turnover business operating from a 21,000 sq ft facility and delivering thousands of print projects for organisations across the UK.

The print firm was originally established as Zebra Print Management, with a vision to offer customers a more personal and dependable approach to managing their print requirements.

The company’s distinctive name was chosen by the late David from the back of a dictionary, with the zebra’s black and white markings fitting neatly with the print industry and the company’s early work producing black-and-white technical manuals for Pioneer Electronics.

Its original strapline, “The print managing company really earning its stripes”, helped establish an identity that has remained with the business ever since.

Twenty years later, Zebra has evolved significantly, expanding its capabilities, team and technology while building long-standing relationships with customers across a diverse range of sectors.

The business rebranded from Zebra Print Management to Zebra Print Group in September 2025, reflecting its evolution from traditional print management into a wider print solutions provider.

Samantha Overton managing director at Zebra Print Group 1Today, the company is led by David’s daughter and managing director, Samantha Overton, who took the helm following the death of her father and Zebra’s founder, David, in September 2024.

Under Samantha’s leadership, the business has continued to grow while investing in its people, technology and sustainability.

During the 2024/25 financial year alone, Zebra completed more than 2,300 projects and achieved 100 per cent customer retention.

Its investment in sustainability has also included the installation of 88 solar panels at its Leeds site, capable of generating around 48MWh of renewable electricity annually and reducing the company’s reliance on grid energy.

Commenting on the milestone anniversary, Samantha said: “Reaching 20 years is a huge achievement for Zebra and one that means an incredible amount to me personally.

“My dad started the business from a kitchen table with a clear belief that great print should come with great service, and those values are still at the heart of Zebra today.

“We’ve been through an enormous amount of change over the past two decades, from advances in print technology and changing customer needs to our own growth and evolution as a business, but we’ve never lost sight of the relationships that got us here.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team, our customers and everything we have achieved together. For me, this anniversary is about celebrating where Zebra has come from while also looking ahead to the next chapter and making sure we continue to evolve, invest and earn our stripes for many years to come.”

The anniversary follows a period of recognition for both Zebra and Samantha. Earlier this year, Samantha was named Manufacturing Leader and overall Leader of the Year at the Yorkshire Leadership Awards, while the company has continued to receive recognition for its work within the manufacturing and print industries.

Samantha added: “There are customers and relationships that have been part of Zebra’s story for many years, and that loyalty is something we never take for granted.

“Twenty years in business is an achievement for the whole Zebra family. Dad would have been immensely proud of what the team has achieved, and we’re determined to build on the foundations he created as we head into our next 20 years.”
