Edale launch their FL-350 servo-driven flexo press

After being hidden under thick red curtains in various advertising campaigns, the latest machine to join Edale’s expanding range, the FL-350 – flexographic label, film and ticketing press, was finally revealed at Label Expo Europe in September 2011. The FL-350 is a highly versatile flexographic label, film and ticket printing press offering the finest print quality with innovative features ensuring high speed changeovers, minimum downtime and minimum wastage.

The new press was designed in conjunction with existing Edale customers and utilises the latest servo technology to provide pre-register, auto-register and print length control features ensuring the highest print quality and minimising set up wastage.

The FL-350 also employs Edale’s revolutionary Pit Stop Colour Change system enabling operators to complete a full colour change in less than 1 min 30 seconds per print station, drastically reducing job change times. Although this ‘standard time’ was completely quashed at Label Expo when Edale’s Print Application Engineer achieved it in just 76 seconds; smashing the record!

Edale’s Sales and Marketing Director, Jeremy Westcott, comments “The Edale FL-350 sets a benchmark for narrow web presses designed to produce top quality labels, with their owners focussed on minimum machine downtime and material wastage. We are delighted with this new press and are looking forward to numerous worldwide installations in 2012”

A handful of the benefits include:

• Pre-register system locates print cylinders in register before any substrate is used

• Servo technology gives accurate control of printing and converting

• Auto-register as standard

‘An Edale First’

Lancashire based Douglas Storrie Labels Ltd, producers of bespoke printed labels, were the first company to purchase and install the FL- 350. Managing Director Nigel Storrie says ”Douglas Storrie Labels’ customers expect top quality labels at economic rates, so choosing the right press was an important decision for us, and after careful consideration we decided to buck the trend, and opted for the Edale FL-350; in our case – an 8 colour servo driven UV flexo press, rather than going down the digital route”

Storrie concludes “We’re in a global market; but it is great to support British engineering, design and quality, especially because we regard this press as exactly the right fit for our current and future goals.”
